Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 July 2026

These terms cover the use of this website and the basis on which hypnotherapy sessions are offered. Please read them before booking. Booking a session means you accept them.

There is a second set of documents. Before our first session you will receive an intake packet containing the disclosure required under California law, my professional biography, and an acknowledgement of services and fees for signature. Where that signed packet and this page differ, the signed packet governs.

What is offered, and what is not

Hypnotherapy services are offered for vocational and avocational self-improvement, as defined by California Business and Professions Code 2908.

I am not a licensed physician, psychologist, or other licensed medical professional, and hypnotherapy is not licensed by the State of California. These services are non-diagnostic, do not constitute the practice of medicine, and are not a substitute for medical or psychological care. Issues of a psychogenic or medical nature are addressed only on referral from a licensed practitioner.

If you are in acute crisis or need urgent medical or psychiatric care, please contact a licensed professional or emergency services rather than booking here.

The introductory call

The 20-minute discovery call is free and carries no obligation on either side. Its purpose is to establish whether this work suits you. If I do not think it does, I will say so and, where I can, point you somewhere more appropriate.

Fees and payment

Fees may change over time, but never for work already booked or paid for.

Cancelling or rescheduling

Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or move an appointment, so the time can be offered to someone else. A missed appointment, or one changed with less than 24 hours' notice, may be charged at the full rate. If something genuinely unavoidable happens, tell me and I will use my judgement.

No guaranteed outcome

Hypnosis can be an effective technique for many purposes, but its effectiveness varies from person to person, and the experience of the hypnotic state itself varies. No specific result or rate of progress can be promised or guaranteed. What I undertake is to work to the best of my ability toward the objectives we agree on.

The number of sessions needed is not fixed in advance; it depends on you and what you bring. Most people complete the work in four to eight.

Ending the work

Either of us may end the working relationship at any time, without needing to give a detailed explanation. Nothing is prepaid beyond what you choose, and unused sessions in a four-session arc are refunded.

Confidentiality

What you tell me is held in strict confidence, subject to the limits described in the FAQ and set out in full in the intake packet — namely a credible threat of serious harm to yourself or another, suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder or dependent adult, and court-ordered disclosure. Note that hypnotherapy communications are not subject to psychotherapist-patient privilege.

Your responsibilities

The work is collaborative and depends on your participation. Please give accurate information about your health and circumstances, tell me about any medical or psychological care you are receiving, and do not attend a session under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Do not listen to any recording I give you while driving or operating machinery.

Sessions are for adults. You must be 18 or over to book.

This website

The text, images, and design of this site are mine and may not be copied or reproduced without permission. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and no client relationship is created by reading it — only by booking and attending a session.

This site links to services I do not operate, including the scheduling service. I have no control over and take no responsibility for their content or practices.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by California law, my total liability arising out of or relating to these services is limited to the amount you have actually paid me for the sessions in question. I am not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. If a concern arises, please raise it with me first — I would far rather resolve something directly than formally.

Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top changes when they do, and the version in force is the one published when you book.
